INSTITUTE FOR SUSTAINABLE AND CIRCULAR CONSTRUCTION
The activities of the Institute for Sustainable and Circular Construction (IUCS) focus on current issues in environmental and materials engineering in line with the concept of sustainable and circular construction. Educational activities are oriented towards the study of the interaction between buildings and the environment in order to restore the ecological stability of the environment, the solution of problems in the field of water management with emphasis on flood control and water conservation measures, materials engineering with regard to sustainable building materials and innovative methods of construction waste recovery, environmental risk assessment, assessment of the environmental impact of activities and buildings and life cycle assessment of building materials, buildings and the urban environment in terms of environmental, social and economic aspects. Research activities are mainly profiled in the following areas: climate change, floods and droughts, green and blue infrastructure, innovative building materials, low-carbon technologies, life cycle analysis of construction products and buildings, quality of the indoor environment of buildings, recycling and reuse of construction and other industrial wastes. The main priority of pedagogical and scientific research activities is sustainable and circular construction built on innovation, digitalization of environmental parameters, decarbonization and the creation of a carbon-neutral environment.
