BACHELOR STUDY

About our 3 bachelor study programmes and courses

Study program Structural and Transport Engineering (SP STE), first degree of study, is focused on education in the field of load-bearing systems of civil engineering, traffic structures and simple engineering structures. The graduate SP STE will be prepared for studies at the second degree of higher education in the same and/or related field of study, as will as for immediate entry into practice. Graduates of the bachelor's degree in the study program Structural and Transport Engineering (SP STE) will acquire the knowledge necessary to understand and demonstrate theoretical and practical cognitions based on the current state of science in the field of design, preparation and implementation of engineering and transport structures. The graduate will be prepared for studies at the second degree of higher education in the same and/or related field of study, as will as for immediate entry into practice. In accordance with the acquired theoretical knowledge, practical abilities and skills, the graduate will be prepared for the design, realization and operation of simple and small constructions of various types and purposes, at the same time he will be able to lead a basic economic agenda.

Theoretical knowledge
Graduate of the study program:

  • demonstrates knowledge and the necessary theoretical foundations from natural science disciplines and their understanding in SP STE,
  • can use knowledge of calculation methods, principles and procedures of reliable and economical design of engineering and transport structures, as well as supporting systems of buildings,
  • has the ability to acquire, interpret, use and adequately develop basic theoretical knowledge in the design and construction of less demanding engineering and transport structures, as well as less demanding load-bearing structures of buildings,
  • has developed learning skills that are necessary to continue further studies with a high degree of independence.

Practical abilities and skills
Graduate of the study program:

  • demonstrates knowledge and understanding of essential facts, concepts, principles and rules relating to engineering structures and civil constructions, can use them in practical activities in a way that demonstrates understanding of the context and consequences of alternative solutions and decisions,
  • knows how to use his knowledge and understand the basic principles and procedures for the realization of various types of engineering structures and civil constructions; can comprehensively handle related organizational and technological tasks,
  • has the ability to acquire and interpret relevant data/facts, make responsible decisions, communicate, manage and control technological construction procedures.

Complementary knowledge, abilities, and skills
Graduate of the study program:

  • can use basic knowledge of a socio-economic nature,
  • able to present information, concepts, principles, problems and solutions to professional and lay audiences,
  • can communicate in at least one world language,
  • has developed skills for self-education and expansion of knowledge and abilities acquired through study,
  • has the skills to organize his education and further professional development, capable to form a habit of continuous professional education,
  • can interpret and apply legislation in construction business practice following generally accepted moral and ethical principles,
  • has "soft skills" and can apply in the labor market.

The study program Architectural engineering focuses on the issue of designing residential buildings and simple earthworks, taking into account wider social, economic and environmental contexts of structural, material and technological solutions of buildings. It provides graduates with knowledge from 3D computer graphics and calculation procedures in the field of designing and assessing building structures and spaces from the point of view of architecture, statics, building physics, technical equipment of buildings, up to the level of implementation project documentation. Under professional guidance, the graduate can prepare project documentation for construction procedures and the implementation of even more demanding land structures, participate in the preparation and implementation of residential, non-residential non-manufacturing, non-residential manufacturing and non-residential agricultural and other buildings and has demonstrated competence in advocating arguments and solving problems. A graduate of the architectural engineering study program in the field of Civil engineering is aimed at designing buildings, taking into account wider social, economic and environmental contexts. He knows how to use the 3D computer graphics and advanced computing procedures in the field of designing and assessing building structures and spaces from the point of view of statics, building physics, building services and HVAC systems and their environment. Can creatively develop basic theoretical knowledge towards a principled understanding of the issue and flexible handling of tasks aimed at the preparation of complex project documentation for construction procedures and the realization of residential buildings, including more demanding land constructions, as well as participate in the preparation and implementation of residential, non-residential, non-manufacturing, manufacturing buildings , agricultural and other buildings and their renovation. The wide multidisciplinary profile of the graduate is complemented by language skills.

Theoretical knowledge
Graduate:

  • demonstrates knowledge, concepts, principles and theories of architectural constructions and techniques of the architectural environment of buildings based on their ecological, material, static, physical, energetic, technological, economic and managerial nature,
  • knows how to use them in professional activities for architectural constructions with such a decision-making system that demonstrates acceptance of qualitative criteria, understanding of the connections and consequences of alternative solutions with the subsequent process of their optimization,
  • can use appropriate theory, criteria, practical procedures and tools to specify and solve technical-technological and economic-managerial problems of complex preparation and realization of buildings while understanding and accepting their architectural essence,
  • can perceive the basic aspects of the sustainable development of civil engineering and the assessment of the impact of buildings on the environment.

Practical abilities and skills
Graduate:

  • knows how to navigate the material base and use this knowledge to create functional and ecological buildings with a healthy internal environment;
  • demonstrates the ability to assess physically the details, elements and systems of building constructions, to carry out construction-technical surveys, to develop expert opinions and assessments;
  • is competent to statically assess and analyze buildings and their supporting structures;
  • can demonstrate knowledge in the design of building environment technology and assessment of its parameters;
  • is able to communicate acquired knowledge in technological design and management of processes related to the realization of architectural works;
  • has the skills to develop an economic assessment of costs and pricing in investment architectural projects;
  • demonstrate sufficient knowledge for the structural design of buildings when applying advanced computer graphics systems.

Complementary knowledge, abilities and skills
Graduate:

  • has the ability to accept the functions and aesthetics of architecture in relation to its technical-technological implementation,
  • is able to use his knowledge to evaluate buildings and their systems from a life cycle point of view and understands engineering solutions in their wider ecological, social and economic context,
  • has developed educational skills, knowledge and teamwork habits and the ability to organize his own education and further professional development.

A graduate of the study program Technology and management in civil engineering has knowledge in the field of design, preparation and construction of architectural, civil engineering and water engineering structures, taking into account the wider societal, economic and environmental contexts of structural, material and technological solutions of constructions, including the technology of production of building materials and products. It develops theoretical knowledge in the field of occupational safety, environmental protection and economic efficiency of construction activity. The graduate knows various specialized software and understands the importance of virtual reality in the preparation, management and control of construction projects. Graduates can identify issues in the preparation and implementation of various types of constructions, can design ordinary constructions and apply a basic economic agenda. They acquire knowledge in the field of human resources management, business activity, law, teamwork principles and coordination of specialists from different professions within the preparation and implementation of constructions. They are able to apply basic theoretical knowledge towards a principled understanding of the issue of construction preparation and implementation and a flexible handling of organizational and technological tasks while respecting the principles of quality, occupational safety, environmental protection and economic efficiency of construction activity. The graduates of the study program will occupy positions in the construction of all types of constructions and the design of ordinary constructions. The graduates are qualified to perform all functions and activities in the preparation, implementation and renovation of all types of buildings and in the production of building materials and semi-finished products at lower levels.

In the area of theoretical knowledge, a graduate of the study program:

  • demonstrates knowledge in the field of preparation and management of the construction of various types of buildings, civil engineering and water structures and the ability to process spatial, technological, time and construction site models, necessary for the implementation of constructions,
  • understands the principles of chemical, physical and mechanical properties of all types of building materials and can specify their use in building structures, including skills in laboratory measurements of the properties of selected building materials
  • can use knowledge in the area of ​​costs and prices of buildings and construction processes
  • can perceive the basic aspects of the sustainable development of the construction industry and its ecosystem, in connection with the assessment of the effects of constructions on the environment.

As for practical abilities and skills, a graduate of the study program:

  • is able to obtain and interpret the context of the design parameters of all types of buildings and analyze the requirements for project documentation, following their structural, material, economic and environmental contexts,
  • can interpret general legal regulations and standards related to the construction industry, general principles of prevention and requirements for ensuring occupational safety and health and environmental protection within the individual phases of construction,
  • is competent to process the basic production agenda and solve problems in the preparation and implementation of constructions and is able to manage and analyze data on the basic parameters of construction (resources, time, costs, safety)
  • has developed skills related to work with information models of buildings and virtual reality in the design, preparation and implementation of constructions.

As for complementary knowledge, abilities and skills, a graduate of the study program

  • has the ability to work effectively as a team member or assistant to managers,
  • can interpret broader questions of a socio-economic and ethical nature,
  • can communicate in at least one world language,
  • developed educational skills will enable him to organize his own further education and professional development,
  • is able to actively interpret and apply construction business practice legislation in accordance with generally accepted moral and ethical principles,
  • understands the professional need for continuous further professional education.
