Laboratory of Material and Environmental Engineering

Researchers:

Advisory, expertise, expert and consulting activities focused on:

  • evaluation of physico-chemical, mechanical and environmental properties of powder materials and hardened composites prepared for various applications (cements, cement composites, cement concrete pavements),
  • tests to determine the mechanical and physical properties of building materials (determination of grain size, bulk density and voids content, grain density and stone absorbency; determination of cement strength; testing of fresh mortar and concrete mixtures; determination of strength of small and concrete; determination of adhesion of surface layers to substrate; moisture, absorbency and capillarity of mortars and concretes; determination of frost resistance and watertightness of concrete),
  • analysis of durability of cement compositions and other building materials, determination of the resistance of the surface of cement concrete to the action of water and chemical de-icing agents,
  • diagnostic assessment of degradation of materials (concrete, malt, plaster), assessment of salinity and moisture of masonry, including sampling (as necessary documents for proposals for restoration and reconstruction of historic buildings),
  • evaluation of concrete biocorrosion processes and corrosive processes of construction products in aggressive environments,
  • environmental assessment of building materials, products and building structures with emphasis on their life cycle, LCA analysis,
  • building sustainability certification, environmental audit of buildings,
  • qualitative and quantitative analysis of pollutants in the indoor environment of buildings (temperature, water, noise, solid particles, chemicals, nitrogen oxides),
  • qualitative and quantitative analysis of pollutants in environmental components (air, water, soil),
  • removal of inorganic pollutants (heavy metals, sulfates) from the aqueous environment,
  • solving problems in the field of water management with emphasis on flood control measures and erosion - transport processes in river basins,
  • elaboration of project documentation for the needs of flood protection - watercourse modifications,
  • elaboration of intentions for the needs of assessment of impacts of activities according to Act no. 24/2006 Coll. as amended by later regulations in the field of environmental studies and water management and the field of water construction activities,
  • expert assessment according to the requirements for legal and natural persons in expert fields: chemistry, environmental protection, construction,
  • chemistry tutoring courses for students entering the 1st year of SvF TUKE.
